Improve Your Digital Photography and Design Skills

Develop skills that lay the foundation for creating stunning digital art in both photography and graphic design with this two-week Academy. Projects focus on producing images that can be delivered in print, web or even video. Week One is an amazing hands-on experience in digital photography that includes shooting, composition and the digital darkroom.

Learn to capture the essence of your world through the magic of digital imagery. Learn how light, contrast, composition and shutter speeds work together to enable breathtaking digital images. In Week Two your focus will change from photography to the world of graphic design. You’ll work through a series of engaging projects as you build your knowledge and skills with industry-standard tools, Adobe® Photoshop® and Illustrator®. At the end of the week you’ll have an amazing portfolio of work and the skills to take your graphic design to the next level!

• Digital photography and Photoshop®
• Features of your DSLR camera and how they work
• Basic digital photography, Photoshop® & Illustrator® work flow
• Photoshop®: color correction, sharpening images, touch-ups & image optimization
• Optimizing camera exposures
• Digital art and graphic design
• Principles of composition & how to create dynamic and interesting images

Course may vary slightly based on student expertise & class interest. All students work on their own personal projects, which they keep.

Who Should Attend: Academy for Digital Photography, Art and Design
Ages 12-17 | Beginner-Advanced | No Previous Photography or Design Experience Required

This course is designed for aspiring digital photographers and graphic artists who want to learn professional, world-class photography and design techniques.

Students need to bring their own DLSR camera. Working with your own equipment allows for an even more personalized experience. Daily field-based shooting assignments are also part of this exciting program. DMA Is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
