Create your own 3D video-game characters using the same powerful cutting-edge programs that top developers use to create blockbuster games like Gears of Wars™ and Uncharted 3™. Maya® and the Unreal Development Kit™ (UDK™) will give you the power to create characters with the same amazing detail as you’ve seen on the Playstation 3® and Xbox 360®.

Create and customize your character, then bring it to life and into the game using the UDK™. Experience a whole new level of gaming. Students continuing from “Game Creation: Level Design” have the opportunity to place their characters into their level designs, creating a completely new game.

• Autodesk® Maya® 2012 basics for character modeling and designs • Techniques for low polygon modeling and optimizing polys for game animations • How to create realistic textures using Adobe® Photoshop® • High resolution sculpting techniques using Zbrush® or Mudbox™ • Character rigging and prepping for the UDK™ • Importing and finalizing your character in a real-time game situation

Are you an aspiring game designer or character creator? Do you like to get “under the hood” of your favorite games? Then get ready to build characters and levels like the pros, using the UDK™ and the Unreal Engine™. You’ll learn how top games like Gears of War™, Street Fighter II™ are made.

This course is perfect for those who want to both design and create their own characters and mod games but also enjoy sharing their creations with others. The UDK™ provides a powerful and integrated development tool set that many of today’s most popular games, like Gears of War™, are created with. Experience what it’s like to control the development process.

Completion of “3D Game Creation: Level Design with the Unreal Engine™” encouraged but not required.
